Omni heat DOES NOT work if -13 Celsius outside, out usual winter is up to -20 Celsius, I order some windproof mittens over these gloves, hoping the Omni heat system will activate it self. Not sure how this Omni heat works, after shoveling for 10 minutes outside, I couldn't feel my fingers.

Mixed feeling with Columbia Fairbanks Omni-Heat boots. Complaint. My gf got my a pair of these boots after I had to toss an older pair of snow boots. After a year of use, I’ve noticed some inconsistency. There are some days where my feet will be as toasty as I could ever ask for, and some days where they can never get warm.
But seems like Omni Heat isn't really all that effective. Both of these sources note that the emissivity of the Omni Heat material, while lower than the average liner fabric, is still relatively high, and that reflective material on the inside of a layer is not actually a very effective way to reduce radiative heat loss.
